Running from Olneyville to Route 95, and then through the heart of downtown to the Providence River, I see Westminster as one of the more diverse streets of central Providence.

These images are meant to capture the material culture of Westminster from west to east and in doing so highlight the gradual changes, dividing lines, and sometimes disjointed, co-existing realities apparent in urban living.

Broadway in many regards represents the heart of gentrification in Federal Hill.

This collection considers the intersection of words, buildings, and signs from both old and new worlds, from hipster hot spots with trendy stickers to corner shops that take food stamps to remnants of Federal Hill's past.
